E.g., Pacheco (or pacheco)
E.g., destreza (or Destreza)
E.g., 1642 (for one year), 167? (for the 1670s), or 16* (for the 1600s)

Searches are case-insensitive. Use a wildcard character (? or *) to replace one (?) or more (*) characters. This is useful, for example, to search for "destreza" in a title, which might also be spelled "destreça". Dates are treated as strings, because bibliographic dates will sometimes include elements that are not part of a numeric date, e.g., "ca." Results are ordered by date in ascending order.

This project began with a multi-page thread on the Esgrima Antigua e Histórica discussion forum of the Asociación Española de Esgrima Antigua (AEEA), "Algunos libros on-line". To describe the many digital resources referenced there, the detailed on-line bibliographical work contained in Destreza Texts, compiled by Mary and Puck Curtis as part of their Destreza Translation and Research Project, was converted into Turtle - Terse RDF Triple Language, a syntax for expressing assertions about resources according to the Resource Description Framework (RDF), and loaded into the RDF triplestore which is built into MarkLogic. This web form passes the search parameters to an XQuery module, which in turn queries a SPARQL endpoint and formats the results using Erlang and YAWS. The A-Z and time-period browse lists are generated on the fly using the same mechanism. If I were to do this today, I would organize the information according to FRBR; I was working from item-level information and was initially driven to do something different with that.
